Did you know that cyberattacks on hardware and software resulted in an estimated annual cost of EUR 5.5 trillion globally in 2021?
These attacks are due to two major factors: a lack of cybersecurity infrastructure and insufficient user understanding. A single cybersecurity incident can have far-reaching consequences, from disrupting economic and social activities to posing a threat to human life. Two main objectives were identified by the European Union (EU) to ensure the proper functioning of the internal market: 1) create conditions for the development of secure products with digital elements and ensure manufacturers prioritize security throughout the product's lifecycle, and 2) enable users to consider cybersecurity when selecting and using products with digital elements.
To address these issues, the Organization of Machine Automation & Control launched the Cyber Resilience Act task force in early June. This task force aims to provide a concise and non-technical document that will assist businesses in gaining a clear understanding of the products covered under the CRA. It will also provide awareness of compliance requirements for each product classification, guidance on finding organizations or partners who can offer further consultation on the journey to CRA compliance, as well as practical first steps and assignments for specific departments to embark on the path toward compliance.
You will walk away with the knowledge you need to help you strengthen your organization’s cyber resilience initiatives and enhance your understanding of industrial cyber security.
